Emergency Shelter
Genesis House provides a free, safe haven for women and their children who are victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault. Residents share a kitchen, dining room, children’s play-room, quiet room, common living room and bathrooms. Advocacy services help residents access financial, legal, medical, employment, and other assistance as needed. Agency staff are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Genesis House has 15 beds and, in 2012, operated at 104% occupancy on average. No one is turned away and if we cannot house a woman or a family, we will find safe shelter at one of our sister agencies and provide safe transportation to that shelter.
