HOPE COACH

Camp HOPE America, Safe Futures is an evidence-based, trauma-informed camping and group mentorship program for children and teens impacted by trauma. We facilitate a variety of monthly events that include field trips, art projects, game nights, and more. Hope coaches attend these monthly events and provide support and encouragement while participants challenge themselves to try new things, practice setting goals, and build their coping skills. Our hope coaches come from a variety of backgrounds and are just as diverse as the children we serve. What they have in common is empathy, kindness, and a passion to help children discover their own strengths.
Requirements: Hope Coaches must pass background checks, complete and maintain a 20-hour domestic violence counselor certification, and participate in ongoing trainings about trauma-informed care and best practices in mentoring.
Dates needed: Ongoing

HOPE COUNSELOR

Camp HOPE America is a values-based, ‘challenge by choice” program with a focus on praising children for observed and developing character traits. HOPE Counselors partner with another camp counselor to care and support for campers during a week of overnight camp. HOPE Counselors are important cheerleaders for campers and your commitment and leadership can make a genuine difference in their lives.
Requirements: HOPE counselors should be between 18 and 24 years old, must pass background checks, complete a 20-hour domestic violence counselor certification, and participate in training on trauma-informed care in a camp setting. Students may be able to structure their time as a HOPE Coach as an internship to earn college credit.
2024 Camp Dates: August 18-23, 2024
